UK Inheritance Tax Calculator
Many expatriates are unaware that their worldwide estate can remain within the scope of UK Inheritance Tax long after they have left the UK. Since 6 April 2025, scope is determined by long-term UK residence rather than domicile. Broadly, if you were UK resident for at least 10 of the previous 20 tax years, your worldwide estate remains in scope for a further period after you leave, ranging from 3 to 10 years depending on how long you were resident. Separately, UK assets such as UK property stay within scope whatever your residence history.
Understanding where you stand is the first step. This calculator gives an illustrative estimate in under two minutes. It is general information, not tax or financial advice.

From Estimate to Plan
Paratus Wealth works with expatriates across four and more core planning areas: UK estate and inheritance tax planning, cross-border tax structuring for multi-jurisdiction finances, whole-of-finances review for those whose arrangements have never been looked at as a whole, and pension and retirement planning for those approaching or already in drawdown.
A Discovery Call is the starting point for any of these: a structured, no-obligation conversation to understand your situation and map what a planning process could look like for you.

Clarity first. Then the right next step

Not every financial situation is the same. Whether your priority is understanding your UK inheritance tax exposure, reviewing how your pension interacts with your estate, untangling cross-border tax obligations, or simply getting a clear picture of where you stand, a Discovery Call is designed to identify what is actually relevant to your circumstances before any planning work begins.

What happens when you get in touch
Expatriates who spent much of their working life in the UK are often unaware that their worldwide assets may remain within the scope of UK Inheritance Tax. Since 6 April 2025 this depends on long-term UK residence rather than domicile, not on where you now live.
The form below is the starting point for a Discovery Call with a Senior Partner of Paratus Wealth: a short, structured conversation to understand your estate position, identify what may be in scope, and explore whether there are planning options worth looking at for your circumstances.
